Kuopio is the second most attractive city in Finland for the third time in a row

Kuopio has succeeded again in the cities`attractiveness research and became the second most attractive city in Finland for the third year in a row. The most attractive city is Tampere.

In the research was clarified the attractiveness of ten biggest Finnish cities, especially by the potential residents`point of view. In addition to the Attractiveness - model, the cities`reputation was rated by Confidence & Reputation -model, with measuring the city`s activities as an organization, visions about the administration`s openness and functionality.

Kuopio`s reputation among its residents has improved from the level of years 2020 and 2021 in all measured sectors. Kuopio`s strength is in responsibility and innovativiness. By Kuopio residents`opinion the city acts correct and pays attention to the society and environment. Kuopio is developing and renewable and acts in an innovative way. The most curable sectors were interaction and employer`s reputation.

From the potential residents`view Kuopio got the best vitality grades for the area`s environment and community. Kuopio is seen as a safe and cozy place to live. According to the answeres, nice people live in Kuopio and they feel well.

The biggest quality change has happened in the vitality vision, which decreased since the year`s 2020 level, but it is still fair enough.

- Status of Kuopio among the ten biggest Finnish cities has been significantly confirmed during the last decade. At the same time the competition between the cities became more intense. Good acting of the whole community in several sectors causes this result, - tells marketing director Kirsi Soininen.

According to the research Kuopio residents value the area more positively than potential residents. The result shows how committed Kuopio residents are to their city.

- The fact, that Kuopio residents are proud of their city,
also reflects outside Kuopio, tells mayor Jarmo Pirhonen.

Improvement of Kuopio`s attractiveness has been seen also in the population growth. According to the Center of Statistics the population growth of Kuopio in 2022 was 1047 persons and the residents`amount by 31.12.2022 was 122 590 persons.

The research was made by online form 12/2022 - 1/2023. Target group was 15 - 65 years old Finnish people, all together 1399 participants. The research was accomplished by T-Media.
