December 2022 Spotlight: Stephen Valentine

1. Why would you encourage someone in the community to apply to be on a board, committee, or commission?

After Jan 6, 2021 I was determined to get off the sidelines and to find a way to serve our community.

2. What do you enjoy most about serving on your particular board?

After witnessing the tremendous positive growth in Durham over the last several decades, the Planning Commission provides an opportunity to advocate on behalf of the community while helping to shape the future of the Bull City.

3. What is your favorite part about living in Durham?

I am hoping to bring my attention to detail and objectivity to all of the issues the Planning Commission is charged with in support of the Mayor and the City Council.
