Congresswoman Betty McCollum Statement on Passage of Republicans' Six-Month Government Spending Plan

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Betty McCollum (MN-04), Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted to approve House Republicans' six-month continuing resolution:

"I voted no today because the funding cuts in this Republican bill will harm the American people. Republicans' irresponsible six-month spending bill reduces healthcare investments by over $2.2 billion, fails to fund community projects for public safety and law enforcement, and shortchanges military training exercises that our service members need to do their jobs safely. This full year CR eliminates the spending directives that Congress uses every year to tell the executive branch how to spend our constituents' tax dollars. By passing this bill, Republicans in the House are choosing to hand our constitutional power to direct spending over to Elon Musk and President Trump. The consequences of that decision will fall on the American people, and Republicans will have to answer for it."
