New Careers Worcs Hub Opens in Redditch

Careers Worcestershire (Careers Worcs) provide comprehensive employment, education, training, skills, and wellbeing support to people aged 16-24. The service was launched in 2022, with the opening of a dedicated hub space within The Hive, Worcester, the success of which has prompted a new Careers Worcs hub to now open in Redditch Town Centre.

The expansion and opening of the Careers Worcs hub, within Heart of Worcestershire (HoW) College on Peakman Street, has been made possible through funding from the Department for Work and Pensions, and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) as part of the UK Government's Levelling Up programme.

Councillor Adam Kent, Worcestershire County Council Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Economy and Skills, said it was great news for the county: " Careers Worcs is dedicated to empowering the youth of Worcestershire by providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed. Providing our young adults with the right guidance and support is crucial for their personal and professional development and Worcestershire County Council is committed to helping our youth prepare for the future. The new Careers Worcs hub in Redditch is a testament to this commitment, and I am confident it will make a significant positive impact on the lives of many across our county."

The Redditch hub will be officially opened later this summer but is already operational, with the team already securing positive employment outcomes as well as work experience, training, and education placements for a number of young individuals.

Judy Gibbs, Head of Skills and Investment at Worcestershire County Council, shared her excitement about the new hub: "We are thrilled to launch our new Careers Worcs Hub within Heart of Worcestershire College in Redditch town centre. Already we are seeing the positive impact we can help, and it allows us to help even more young people across the county, especially those who are not currently in education, employment, or training, to achieve their goals. We are working in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and other fantastic education and training providers to give Worcestershire's 16-24 year-olds the best possible start and to kickstart their career journey"

A ceremonial opening of the new Careers Worcs hub is expected to take place later this summer, with additional satellite/pop-up hubs planned within each district.
