Carter Remarks at FY25 Budget Request For Air Force and Space Force Military Construction and Family Housing (As Prepared)

Apr 17, 2024
Statements

Good afternoon. Welcome.

Today's hearing is on the Air Force and Space Force fiscal year 2025 budget request for military construction and family housing.

It is a great pleasure to be here today with Dr. Ravi Chaudhary, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Energy, Installations, and Environment; Brigadier General Brian Hartless, Air Force Director of Civil Engineers, Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection; and Mr. Bruce Hollywood, Assistant Chief Operations Officer, United States Space Force.

Our ability to project air power in the Pacific is critically important, and we need to ensure we have the necessary infrastructure to do so, whether it be maintenance hangars, training facilities, or runways.

This subcommittee understands the important connection between infrastructure and readiness and the effect it has on our Airmen, Guardians, and their families. I look forward to discussing how the budget request balances these priorities.

I thank each of you for being here today and for your support and dedication to our Nation's Airmen and Guardians.

And now I would like to recognize Ms. Wasserman Schultz for her opening remarks.
