Higgins Announces Additional $5.3M for Hurricane Recovery Efforts

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Clay Higgins (R-LA) announced today that FEMA will award $5,301,281.57 to Southwest Louisiana Electric Membership Corp. (SLEMCO) for restoration of the electrical transmission and distribution system in response to Hurricane Delta. The reimbursement is made at a 75% federal cost-share.
All funding will be delivered to the State of Louisiana. The state is responsible for disbursing the funds to each sub-recipient.
Congressman Higgins issued the following statement:
"We have not stopped working to prioritize Southwest Louisiana's recovery efforts, and we continue to push for necessary disaster resources. Over $2 billion in relief funding has been delivered and allocated in response to Hurricanes Laura and Delta. Additional support is necessary, and we're working with our state and local officials to prioritize funds for Louisiana's 2020 storm season disaster recovery."
