Hamilton County U.S. 50 Bridge Rehab And Resurfacing Project Gets Under Way

Hamilton County (Saturday, April 20, 2024) - A bridge rehabilitation and resurfacing project is getting under way on U.S. Route 50 in eastern Hamilton County, and single-lane closures are in effect in the village of Fairfax.

Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be rehabilitating the set of bridges over the railroad lines, Duck Creek and Red Bank Road, as well as the structures over the Red Bank Road interchange ramps at Fairfax by replacing the bridge decks, backwalls, expansion joints, and approach slabs. The project also includes resurfacing U.S. 50 in the villages of Fairfax and Terrace Park.

During the initial stages of construction, traffic is being maintained in one lane in each direction between the S.R. 125/Beechmont Avenue interchange and Harvard Acres Drive while crews construct crossovers that will be used to shift traffic into contraflow lanes.

Once the crossovers are constructed, bi-directional will be maintained in either direction throughout the next several months to allow for the bridge demolition and reconstruction in the opposing direction. Paving operations will take place following the bridge work, and traffic will be maintained in both directions through either work zone.

The Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract for approximately $14.8 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be complete in the fall of 2025.
