Chief of Staff for City of Pueblo Honored with Outstanding Woman Award

PUEBLO-Chief of Staff for the City of Pueblo Laura Solano is among 40 recipients to be recognized by Pueblo City-County Library District at the Outstanding Women Awards Luncheon on Friday, March 31.

"I am proud to recognize Laura Solano as my Chief of Staff, for her commitment to the Pueblo community and the good work she does in her role with the City of Pueblo," said Mayor of Pueblo Nick Gradisar. "Laura is exemplary in her work and continues to elevate the work of her colleagues and our community."

Solano serves as the Chief of Staff for the City of Pueblo under Mayor Gradisar and has done so since 2019. She has brought to this position over 40 years of service in Federal, State and local government leadership. Her career experience includes 18 years of service as a Revenue Agent with the Internal Revenue Service, she was the Vice President of Learning at Pueblo Community College, the Finance Director at the Colorado State Fair and served four years as the Colorado Lottery Director.

"I am very honored to have been nominated for this award by Mayor Gradisar and my colleagues in the Mayor's office and share the honor with the group of amazing women that work in city government," said Chief of Staff Laura Solano. "As a native Puebloan, I am privileged to work alongside many community members on projects throughout the city. Congratulations to the 2023 recipients this year."

Solano earned a master's in business administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Colorado State University Pueblo. She is a graduate of the Bloomberg Harvard Municipal Leadership program. Most recently for the City of Pueblo, Solano led several projects including Cities Budgeting for Equity and Recovery and the Bloomberg Philanthropies and John Hopkins sponsored Innovation Training. Locally, Solano has previously served on several community boards.

The Outstanding Women Awards have honored women who have made important contributions to the community and have celebrated the important role that women play in Pueblo's history. These awards provide an opportunity for any individual or organization to honor a special woman who has made an impact. The awards luncheon was held Friday, March 31 at the newly renovated Ryals Grant Event Space at the Robert Hoag Rawlings Library.
