Griffin College of Business Recognizes Most Outstanding Graduates of 2023-24

JONESBORO - The most outstanding 2023-24 graduates of the Neil Griffin College of Business at Arkansas State University were recognized during Convocation of Scholars, according to Dr. Jim Washam, dean of the college.

Gabrielle Holifield of Blytheville received the Chancellor's Scholar award as the graduating senior with the highest GPA in the college this academic year. Holifield, along with Abigail Avery of Jonesboro, Omari Buford of Olive Branch, Miss., Nathaly Gonzalez Fuentes of Cabot, Skylar Jensen of Norfork, Sarah McCammon of Searcy, Bryn McDonnough of Pocahontas, Jason Whaley of Lincoln, and Faith Whitmire of Jonesboro received the 4.0 Scholar Award. The Chancellor's Scholar is the 4.0 student with the most credit hours at A-State.

The outstanding graduate awards are presented to the senior in each degree program who has most excelled in scholarship, leadership and service.

Those receiving departmental awards and their respective degree programs are: Sarah McCammon of Searcy, accounting; Megan Gray of North Little Rock, business administration; Gabrielle Holifield of Blytheville, finance (financial management emphasis); Laci DeWitt of Monette and Lindon Marberry of Viola, finance (banking emphasis); Kakujiro Ito of Shinagawa-ku, Japan, BA in economics; and Nathaly Gonzalez Fuentes of Cabot, BS in economics.

Other departmental award winners are: Abigail Avery of Jonesboro, BA in economics (pre-law emphasis); Soichiro Takahashi of Handa-shi, Aichi, Japan, computer and information technology; Evan Roode of Johannesburg, South Africa, international business; Nathan Raath of Bloemfontein, South Africa, management; Mailyn Wilkerson of Houston, management (human resources emphasis); Claire McCord of Jonesboro, marketing; Emilee Thomason of Bald Knob, marketing (sales leadership emphasis); and Rebecca Brody of Somerset West, South Africa, global supply chain management.

Graduate degree program award winners are Blake Hegwood of Hot Springs Village, Master of Business Administration, Austin Shultz of Paragould, Master of Accountancy in Accounting with Data Analytics, and Himani Vidhani of Udaipur, India, Master of Science in Applied Digital Technology.

Skylar Jensen of Norfork received the Talbert-Carrothers Dean's Award, named in honor of two former deans of the college and presented to a graduating senior with the second-highest GPA.
