Fortum participates in the UN Global Compact Finland member companies' statement for a more sustainable future

UN Global Compact Network Finland and its member companies will be present at the UN General Assembly week in New York as part of the Finnish delegation. Fortum is represented by Ulla Rehell, Vice President Sustainablity.

The UN General Assembly will be accompanied by SDG summit, which will assess the progress of Agenda 2030 and the SDGs at the mid-point of their implementation.

The SDGs were agreed in 2015, when the world agreed to implement the 2030 Agenda. However, Agenda 2030, the Paris Climate Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework call for increasingly ambitious and accelerated action and the involvement of society as a whole.

Responsible business is vital to secure the competitiveness, growth opportunities and thus the future of Finnish companies. But investing in the sustainability transition requires predictable government policies and a long-term vision for the coming decades.

The Finnish companies that signed the statement hope that the Finnish government will continue to show leadership in promoting sustainable development and responsibility alongside companies.
