City employee wins Chamber award

Congratulations to Farhad Daroga, Placemaking Manager for the City of Broken Arrow, for being chosen as the 2022 Chairman's Award recipient during the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala.

Daroga was presented the award by the outgoing Chair of the Chamber of Commerce, Aaron Morris. The Gala is the Chamber's yearly event where achievements in business and community leadership in Broken Arrow are recognized and celebrated.

Daroga has worked for the City of Broken Arrow for more than 40 years and has been instrumental in the creation of the city's Planning Department. His work includes the preparation of the last four comprehensive plans, five iterations of the zoning and development codes, as well as the Downtown Master Plan, which led to the award-winning Rose District.

He has worked on the last four Decennial Census Counts, resulting in the five City Council re-districting boundaries, the most recent plan being approved by City Council in June 2022.

Daroga has served more than 25 members of the Planning Commission, seven mayors and city councils, and nine city managers. He has a proven track record working with the management teams of the Chamber of Commerce, Broken Arrow and Union public school boards. He has attended nearly 1,000 City Council Public Meetings and almost 800 Planning Commission Meetings.

Daroga has presided over the creation of approximately 300 planned unit developments, more than 500 subdivisions and more than 1,350 zoning issues in his career with the City of Broken Arrow.
