There will be a groundbreaking for the Ken Mattingly Planetarium, named after astronaut Ken Mattingly, who grew up in Hialeah. It originally opened in 1972 and closed in 2000. The planetarium renovation includes a new metal sphere dome, state-of-the-art digital projection and sound systems, as well as seating for 52 and a gallery.

The Planetarium will be used by the upcoming space and technology research magnet students. The program will begin in the fall of 2025.

The Law Academy, which will be used for the school's law magnet classes, will include a judge's bench, a witness stand, a jury box as well as plaintiff and defendant tables. There will also be deliberation rooms and public seating.

Carivon Construction will be the contractors on this $2.3 million project, which is expected to be completed by 2025.<_o3a_p>
