Secrets of the Sea with Auckland Zoo

Calling all beach-goers, picnickers, snorkelers and shell-collectors! Come along to your local library to uncover some secrets, stories and strange sensations from the sea with the team from Auckland Zoo!

Down here in the corner of the South Pacific, Aotearoa is an isolated but important archipelago of over 700 islands - with a broad range of marine life, deep seas rich in food, one of the longest coastlines in the world and plenty of stops for migrating animals to rest. The ocean has become a vital part of our ecosystem, our culture, history and identity as New Zealanders.

Join our Conservation Learning team to connect to ngā taonga ō te moana and consider how you can help around your local takutai! Attending whānau will have the opportunity to engage with elements of the coast, the Zoo and our wider natural environment from within the library through a range of hands-on activities that help to translate curiosity and compassion into meaningful actions for taonga.

From scavenger hunts and sensory stations, to quiet crafts and setting your own personal conservation goal, there will be something for everyone to get their fins stuck into.

SEA YOU THERE!
