LBJ Jaguar Theatre students competed at the UIL One Act Play Area Contest held at Bastrop ISD April 11, marking the first time LBJ has advanced to this level.
Why it matters: LBJ was the only 5A school in Austin ISD to advance to Area this year and it's the first time for the team to advance after competing with the Liberal Arts and Science Academy for several years.
Show synopsis: LBJ performed scenes from Pipeline, written by Dominique Morisseau and directed by Victor Santos.
How it works: UIL One Act Play has six levels of competition: Zone, District, Bi-district, Area, Region and State.
Individual awards: Each competition level awards 18 individual acting awards and a best technical student from each school.
Final free performance: Catch the last public performance of Pipeline at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 at the LBJ ECHS Don T. Haynes Auditorium, 7309 Lazy Creek Drive.
Los estudiantes de Teatro Jaguar de LBJ compitieron en la Obra de un Acto de la UIL que se realizó en el Bastrop ISD el 11 de abril, marcando la primera vez que LBJ avanzó a este nivel.
Por qué es importante: LBJ fue la única escuela 5A del Austin ISD que avanzó en el Área este año y es la primera vez que el equipo avanza después de competir con La Academia de Artes Liberales y Ciencias por varios años.
