Failure in the national interconnected system caused the paralysis of the Talara Refinery

A failure in the La Niña electrical substation of the National Interconnected Electrical System (SEIN) caused the paralysis, this afternoon, of operational activities at the Talara Refinery, as well as other industries in the Piura region.

This external failure forced a total shutdown of the refining complex, which was carried out with the corresponding safety measures, in line with the company's procedures.

It became known that the failure was due to a disconnection on the 220Kv (kilowatt) line L-2162 (La Niña - Piura), causing an overload on the interconnected line; and consequently the Talara Refinery lost 60MW (megawatts) of load, leaving the line out of service.

Petroperú's team of professionals and technicians is working to restart the operational work of the Talara Refinery and continue with the production of quality fuels.

Petroperú will continue to report on the restart of operational activities of its refining complex.
