AmeriHealth Caritas, a national leader in Medicaid managed care and other health care solutions for those most in need, announced it has appointed David Finkel as Executive Vice President, Specialty Products and Services and Strategic Business Operations. An accomplished health care executive with more than 30 years of experience with payers, providers, and technology companies, Finkel will oversee AmeriHealth Caritas' non-Medicaid businesses which include PerformCare® managed behavioral health, PerformRxSM pharmacy benefit management, AmeriHealth Caritas VIP Plans Medicare products, and AmeriHealth Caritas NextSM, an ACA Marketplace offering. He will also lead the company's enterprise operations and network management areas.

Finkel joins AmeriHealth Caritas from Genomic Life, where he served as the chief operating officer. He previously held executive leadership roles at CareSource and MedStar Health Plans. At the former, he was charged with improving coordination and quality across five CareSource health plan markets and six products. He also served in several executive roles at Coventry Health Care and Anthem.

"David is a seasoned and growth-oriented health care leader, with a demonstrated commitment to elevating the quality of products, services, and operations across the health care ecosystem," said AmeriHealth Caritas Chairman and CEO Paul A. Tufano. "In overseeing our PBM, behavioral health, Exchange, and Medicare products, David will serve an integral leadership role in advancing our mission of supporting members across their full life journey."

"Having worked on both the payer and provider side of health care, I've learned how important it is for Medicaid and senior health plans in particular to understand and address the non-medical challenges so many Americans face that heavily influence their health and quality of life. It is great to work for an organization that is a leader in tackling these social determinants of life and health. I am thoroughly impressed by the entire company's commitment to making a true impact on the lives of the people it serves," said Finkel.

Finkel holds a B.A. degree in community health from the University of Rochester and an M.B.A. degree in health care administration from Baruch College and Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine.
