Money is Coming to New Brunswick. How Should it Be Spent

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (April 24, 2024) - The City will begin the fifth and final incremental year of its Five-Year Consolidated Plan on July 1.

City officials will be discussing how best to use federal, state, local and private monies which it expects to become available between July 1, 2024 and June 30, 2025.

For example, the City anticipates receiving a grant of approximately $800,000 from the federal government for the Community Development Block Grant Program.

The City also anticipates receiving a grant of approximately $450,000 for participation in the HOME Program. The program creates public/private partnerships to develop projects to expand the supply of affordable housing and increase the number of families who can receive assistance in securing affordable housing.

A public hearing is set for 5 p.m. on May 2 in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 78 Bayard St. The hearing will be bilingual.
