About the Project

Rikolto has received funding from IDH through ETG to promote sustainable and low-carbon coffee production in the Greater Masaka region. The project aims to address multiple challenges within the coffee supply chain while aligning with broader sustainability goals and carbon reduction commitments.

To achieve this objective, the project has designed a comprehensive set of activities:

  • Agroforestry and Shade Tree Nurseries: Establishment of shade tree nurseries and agroforestry practices to enhance biodiversity, improve soil fertility, and build climate resilience, benefiting both coffee farmers and the environment.
  • Biochar and Bio Composting: Training programs on biochar and bio composting to enable farmers to apply these techniques effectively, improving soil carbon sequestration potential and water retention.

Rikolto is seeking qualified suppliers to provide Ficus Natalensis cuttings for coffee farm agroforestry purposes.

Scope of Work:

  • Supply 4000 healthy and disease-free Ficus Natalensis cuttings.
  • Ensure that the cuttings are of uniform size and quality.
  • Provide documentation certifying the origin and quality of the cuttings.

Technical Specifications:

  • Cuttings should be over 2.5 meters long and have an 'arm size' diameter.
  • Cuttings should be sourced from healthy, disease-free plants.
  • Cuttings should be potted in suitable black pots.

Delivery Requirements:

Deliver the cuttings to cooperatives in Bukomansimbi district by 13th /04/2024.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Compliance with technical specifications.
  • Price competitiveness.
  • Past performance and experience in supplying similar products.

Submission of Bids:

Interested suppliers must submit their bids via email to: eastafrica.recruitment[at] rikolto.orgby 07th April 2024, 6 PM East Africa Time. The email subject line should clearly indicate 'Bid for Supply of Ficus Natalensis Cuttings'. Late bids will not be considered.

The selected supplier will be required to enter into a formal contract (LPO) with Rikolto Uganda.
