Mayor's Chess Challenge

The Mayor's Annual Chess Challenge in Pembroke Pines is being held on Saturday, May 11 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquetball Club 19, located at 10500 Taft Street. This free chess challenge, held throughout Broward County, is part of a free and friendly series of chess meet-ups in over 19 different cities to draw attention to the benefits of chess in both the academic environment and throughout the community. Chess players of all ages, novices and experts alike are welcome to play chess with elected officials, community leaders, and other players at this monthly traveling challenge. Instructors are on hand to help those new to the game. The chess challenges support Scholastic Chess, which has been steadily growing throughout the years. Players at this Challenge will have their Mayor's Chess Challenge Passport stamped so they can log their participation. Those with perfect attendance from all the challenges will receive a certificate at the end of the season.
