City Water Returns to Normal Clarity

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Isolated reports of discoloration in the city's water have been corrected. City water has returned to normal clarity. Seventy-five calls were received during the week to report water discoloration. Customers that requested water quality assurance were assisted by a certified water utility technician within two hours.

Changes to chemistry at our lakes, reservoirs, and rivers due to extraordinary rain events in late May and early June caused an imbalance in Corpus Christi's water composition, resulting in water discoloration. In the last 45-days, the National Weather Service shows a rainfall average of eleven and a half inches in the area covering our watersheds. Compared to a normal rainfall year, the region usually receives only three and a half inches of rainfall during the same time.
