Fire Dept. Water Rescue Team Responds to Clear Lake

Thursday, the Fire Dept. marine rescue personnel responded to the reports of a "boat aground" with two personnel on board. The water rescue team found low tide conditions off the shoreline of the City in Clear Lake. Due to the shallow water, Rescue Boat 3 (RB3), which is a rubber inflatable, was deployed. The crew was able to make contact with the stranded boat and remove the two people who were stranded. The rescued were not injured. Due to the low tide, the crew of RB3 had to walk the rescue boat back out to deeper water to be able to return to the boat ramp.

Nassau Bay VFD also responded to assist with helping go pulling RB3 from the shallow water along with transporting one of the rescued personnel to shore. During this, NBVFD's inflatable became stuck in the shallow water with one of the rescued personnel on board. Due to the strong northerly winds, the NBVFD inflatable crew could not make their way back to the channel to deeper water. As an alternative, they could float the boat across the creek to the rocks near the Dallas Salmon Water Treatment Plant, where the crew and rescued individual could get to land. Both reached individuals were evaluated by EMS personnel, and fortunately, there were no injuries l reported by either the boat crews or the rescued personnel.
