City Council Appoints Hannah Chung as Councilmember

On Monday March 18, the Tehachapi City Council appointed Hannah Chung to fill the open council seat. Chung will serve the remainder of the District 5 City Council seat term vacated by Susan Wiggins on January 25, 2024.

As the vacancy occurred in the first half of the term and more than 130 days from the next general municipal election, Chung will serve until the certification of the November 2024 election, at which point the seat will be filled by an elected candidate.

Councilmember Chung brings experience as a long-term resident of Tehachapi and from her time serving as the Finance Director for the City of Tehachapi from August 1999 to March 2022.

Following the nomination and appointment process, Chung was sworn in by City Clerk Victoria Marsh and then joined the council for her first meeting.

The City Clerk's office received one application for the council position: Hannah Chung, resident, and registered voter of District 5.
