Staff show support to struggling families at Christmas

Our staff have rallied together to donate hundreds of grocery items to local foodbanks to aid families struggling with their finances this Christmas.

Colleagues based at the Civic Offices were encouraged to donate to Borehamwood, Potters Bar and Red Trust Bushey foodbanks in time for their festive collections.

Items ranging from tinned food, pasta and breakfast cereals to biscuits and chocolates have been delivered by staff to the foodbanks.

Sajida Bijle, our Manager Director, said: "As a council, we work hard to support our local communities, and in times of uncertainty it is more important than ever for us to support those that find themselves struggling.

"The festive season can be a magical time of year for many, but for some families it is a time which causes much financial pressure, particularly during the cost of living crisis.

"Our staff donated a staggering amount of food and household items to the local foodbanks. They are a credit to the council. We hope the donations offer some relief to those in need this Christmas."

Our staff were also invited to support local families this Christmas by volunteering time to help with the production of Christmas Hampers for Borehamwood Foodbank and Homestart Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere.
