Ramin Djawadi To Be Honored as a BMI Icon at the 2024 BMI Film, TV and Visual Media Awards

BMI is thrilled to honor acclaimed composer Ramin Djawadi with the BMI Icon Award at the 40th Annual BMI Film, TV and Visual Media Awards on June 5 in Beverly Hills, CA. The award-winning composer will be receiving this accolade for his exceptional body of work across film, television, and video games. The ceremony will also salute the composers of the previous year's top-grossing films, top-rated primetime network television series, and highest-ranking cable and streamed media programs. The evening will be hosted by BMI President and CEO Mike O'Neill and BMI Vice President, Creative, Film, TV & Visual Media, Tracy McKnight.

As an esteemed film, TV and video game score composer, Ramin Djawadi has received many accolades and widespread acclaim throughout his career spanning over 25 years. His diverse portfolio includes scores for hit series like Westworld, Prison Break, Person of Interest and the groundbreaking score for HBO's hit series Game of Thrones, which garnered two GRAMMY nominations and two consecutive Emmy awards for Outstanding Music Composition for A Series (Original Dramatic Score) in 2018 and 2019. Djawadi continued with the Game of Thrones franchise, composing the prequel series House of The Dragon in 2022, with season two premiering June 16th on HBO. Most recently, he collaborated with Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy on Amazon Prime's Fallout and partnered with David Benioff and D.B. Weiss on the Netflix series 3 Body Problem.

Early in his career, after graduating from Berklee College of Music, Djawadi got his start by collaborating with industry titan Hans Zimmer on films like Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Batman Begins. He went on to score for blockbuster movies such as Iron Man, which earned him a GRAMMY nomination, Eternals, Uncharted, The Man from Toronto, A Wrinkle in Time, Clash of the Titans, The Mountain Between Us, Pacific Rim and Blade: Trinity, among others. He also scored the first Sony Pictures Animation project, Open Season, and the children's animated film A Turtle's Tale: Sammy's Adventures. In addition to Djawadi's illustrious film and television credits, he has composed music for several video games including Medal of Honor, Gears of War 4 and Gears 5.

Throughout his career, Djawadi has won fifteen BMI Awards for his outstanding scores on notable films, cable TV programs and streamed media. In receiving this honor, Djawadi joins a prestigious list of BMI Icon Award recipients including Terence Blanchard, Mychael Danna, Alexandre Desplat, Harry Gregson-Williams, James Newton Howard, Christopher Lennertz, Thomas Newman, Rachel Portman (PRS), Mike Post, Alan Silvestri, Brian Tyler and John Williams, among others.
