[Attachment] Three National Team camps at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Lake Placid, N.Y., kicked off the 2020 season. Junior and senior individuals gathered to go through their new routines with judge feedback. The group dove into detailed work on their routines in preparation for the start of the international season. All athletes are gearing up for the 2020 Rhythmic Challenge taking place in Lake Placid February 8-9, 2020 which will be a selection event for the Pacific Rim Championships, the Senior Pan American Championships, the World Cup events and FIG tournaments prior to the 2020 USA Gymnastics Championships.
Having participated in the National Team High Performance Camp in November 2019, these athletes and coaches continued their personalized and collective work in the areas of strength and stamina development. Joining the final of the three camps, the Senior Individual National Team, was the new Vice President of Athlete Health and Wellness for USA Gymnastics, Kimberly Kranz. This camp also included meetings of the Junior Olympic Technical Committee (JOTC) with newly elected Judges' Representative, Olga Kutuzova (Brevet Judge and 2012 Olympic Coach), as well as the International Elite Coaches' Committee, both of which worked on reflection, analysis, and discussion towards the new Olympic cycle starting in 2021. Active Recovery was a focus for athletes and all present members of the medical staff also led coaches, judges and staff members through Active Recovery exercises-health and restoration are a central focus in order to sustain the training process, engage in deliberate practice, and maintain mental and physical health.
