Work crews will be on-site May 1, 2024, executing the replacement of the culvert crossing on Lakeland Drive between 95 Street and 123 Avenue near the Crystal Lake dog park. This crucial project aims to enhance safety and reliability by replacing the existing structure with a new concrete design, along with the installation of a new manholes and surface repairs.

Project notification signs will be strategically placed to alert residents and motorists of the upcoming construction activities. These signs will provide essential information regarding the project timeline and potential impacts on traffic flow.

"Ensuring the safety and convenience of residents and motorists is our top priority," said Grande Prairie's Project Manager for the Lakeland Drive culvert replacement project, Alissa Hodson. "We're committed to completing this upgrade efficiently while minimizing disruptions to the community."

During construction, traffic along Lakeland Drive will be temporarily reduced to a single lane with alternating flow, regulated by traffic lights. Despite these adjustments, the bus stop will remain operational to minimize inconvenience for commuters. Pedestrian traffic will also be accommodated with detours as needed to ensure safety.

The City of Grande Prairie acknowledges the cooperation and patience of residents throughout this improvement initiative. Once completed, the upgraded culvert crossing will contribute to the overall safety and functionality of Crystal Lake's surrounding neighborhood.
