Dieppe Celebrates Earth Day

The City of Dieppe invites you to its Earth Day event at Rotary St-Anselme Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. Farm animals, community clean-up, exhibitors, door prizes and more!

Honouring Mother Earth will be the focus of several activities. The Dieppe community clean-up is back for a third year. The activity is open to all members of the public and will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Garbage bags and gloves will be available free of charge. A chance to win gardening soil produced in New Brunswick!

New this year: the Boyle Family Farm will be on site with several animals to pet, feed and interact with. Eco-friendly craft-making for kids and circus performances throughout the day.

A number of exhibitors will be on hand to share eco-friendly ideas and initiatives.

"It's the perfect opportunity to learn more about the environmental cause," says Alexandre Truchon-Savard, director of environmental management with the City of Dieppe. "If we each do our part, however imperfectly, we can make a huge difference collectively."

Dieppe encourages you to contribute to its eco-responsible vision by making room in your yard for native plants that support pollinating insects. You can help restore monarch butterfly populations, for example, by planting milkweed, the only plant that monarch caterpillars feed on. Come and meet biodiversity experts at this event to learn more, and find out how to make flower bombs!

Residents participating in the community clean-up this weekend can simply leave their bags near a park garbage can or along the trail. Municipal staff will be by to collect them.

In the event of bad weather, the event will move to Sunday, April 21.
