Claverack Man Arrested For Assault

PRESS RELEASE

On February 5, 2024, the New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested Nicholas P. Beer, age 48, of Claverack, NY, for Assault in the 2nd degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd degree, both class D felonies.

At approximately 7:50 p.m., Troopers responded to the Yorkshire Motel for an assault with a knife. Investigation determined Nicholas Beer, in what is believed to be an unprovoked attack, slashed a fellow resident with a knife. The victim was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Beer was arraigned before the town of Claverack Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to reappear before the court on February 9, 2024, at 9:00 p.m.
