Fischer: Democrats’ Push to Avoid Senate Impeachment Trial Sets “Disgraceful Precedent”
U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement afternews reports indicated that Senate Democrats plan to dismiss the impeachment charges against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:
"My Democrat colleagues are duty bound by the Constitution to hold a full trial to consider the impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas - there is no excuse to shirk this responsibility. Doing otherwise would dismantle a core duty of the United States Senate and establish a disgraceful precedent," said Senator Fischer.
