Sounds at Sundown packed with entertaining shows

MURPHY (May 26, 2023) The 2023 edition of the highly popular Sounds at Sundown concert series, the City of Murphy's signature summer musical extravaganza, may prove to be among its most entertaining.

Sounds at Sundown returns each Friday evening in June with a lineup of compelling musical acts, set in the acoustically responsive Central Park amphitheater, 550 North Murphy Road. The free series presents an enchanting array of genres, according to Special Events Coordinator Ashley Hudson.

"Music is the universal language that ties a community together and Sounds at Sundown is the perfect way to express it," she said. "Offering this free series gives us yet another way to strengthen the deep ties that our community already has."

Kicking off the series on June 2 is the highly effervescent Poo Live Crew, a band that breaks all stereotypes, while providing an engaging, appealing, well instrumented playlist. Learn more at Poo Live Crew.

On June 9, attendees to Sounds of Sundown will be treated to Epic Unplugged, a rare combination of a traditional rock band backed up with its own live string quartet. The wide variety of offerings will delight everyone. Learn more at Epic Unplugged.
Midway through the series, on June 16, Tennessee Whiskey, the Chris Stapleton Tribute band takes the stage. The smooth, mellow alt-country songs deftly played by this group will mesmerize the audience. A can't-miss show. Learn more at Tennessee Whiskey: The Chris Stapleton Tribute.

On June 23, Red- A Taylor Swift Tribute will fill the air with the soulfully melodic phrasing of one of the world's most popular singers. Swifties will surely want to be in the audience as the songs, arrangements, and even the visuals will call to mind their musical idol. Learn more at Red - A Taylor Swift Tribute.

Then, capping the series on June 30, the Emerald City Band hits the stage with their usual high-level, unmistakable flair. The unique arrangements, brassy accompaniment, and stirring vocals will undoubtedly bring attendees out of their seats to dance to the thriving beat. Learn more at Emerald City Band.

Pre-concert activities include face painting, inflatables, and yard games, concluding at 8:30 p.m. The splashpad will close at the start of the concerts at 8 p.m. The food truck court will host a variety of vendors every Friday evening. As always, blankets, folding lawn chairs, seat pads, and insect repellant are encouraged. Free parking is available at the Murphy PSA lot and other City Hall spaces. Glass containers on the premises are not allowed. Refillable water bottles are encouraged as water stations will be set up. Umbrellas and other sunshades standing over 3-feet should be lowered at the start of the music.
