PHILADELPHIA- On Sunday, May 5, the City of Philadelphia welcomes back 40,000 participants to the 45th annual Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run, the nation's largest 10-mile race. This is the first year since the pandemic that the run has reached its participation capacity.

"I'm excited to celebrate all of the runners participating in the Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run this year," said Mayor Cherelle L. Parker. "Welcoming 40,000 runners back to Broad Street is a meaningful opportunity to showcase Philadelphia at its best. I hope everyone comes out to cheer and show their spirit!"

After three years of construction moved the finish line to other locations in South Philadelphia, the 2024 Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run will end in the Navy Yard, its traditional finish area. Beginning at Broad & Fisher, participants will enjoy a straight run down Broad Street through North Philly, Center City and South Philly, finishing in the historic Navy Yard.

"We are grateful to our race partner Independence Blue Cross for making this iconic race possible," said Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Susan Slawson. "Parks & Rec staff have worked hard to make this year's race fun and safe for all 40,000 participants. Good luck to all the runners, and see you at the finish line!"
