Matt Hayward Named Congressional Liaison Specialist

October 26, 2021

Washington, DC - National Labor Relations Board Chairman Lauren McFerran and General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo announced today the appointment of Matt Hayward as Congressional Liaison Specialist, serving in the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs.

Mr. Hayward has wide-ranging legislative experience from his work in congressional offices and public interest organizations. Most recently, he was the Legislative Affairs Director of the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center and Progressive Caucus Action Fund. Previously, he served as Legislative Director for a Member of Congress, a legislative staffer for a U.S. Senator, and a research assistant at the Federal Reserve Board.

Mr. Hayward earned his undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science, with high honors, from the University of Minnesota.

The Office of Congressional and Public Affairs is one of the five original NLRB divisions established in 1935, and it is the official gateway through which the media, the public, and Congress learn about the Agency's activities.

"I am pleased to welcome Matt to the NLRB. We are very fortunate to have someone of Matt's experience and dedication joining the agency," said Chairman McFerran. "I am confident that he will expertly guide the Agency's reinvigorated efforts to build positive and lasting congressional relationships that will benefit not just the Agency, but, ultimately, the employees, employers, and unions we serve."

"Matt will play an important role for our Agency-strengthening the NLRB's relationships with Congress and other government agencies," said General Counsel Abruzzo. "His addition to the Office of Congressional and Public Affairs will strengthen our work with policymakers to educate the public about their rights under the National Labor Relations Act."
