Representative Adriano Espaillat Appointed Ranking Member of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee on the House Appropriations Committee in the 118th Congress

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) issued the following statement on his appointment to serve as Ranking Member of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee during the 118th Congress:

"I am honored to be appointed to serve as the Ranking Member of the Legislative Branch subcommittee on Appropriations by Ranking Member DeLauro and Chair Granger," said Rep. Espaillat. "I look forward to doing the work of the American people on this influential subcommittee to deliver the advancement of funding for the House of Representatives, the United States Capitol, and the Library of Congress. We must always operate at the most effective and efficient level possible. Providing secure and appropriate infrastructure and funding to ensure the safety of all members, staff, interns and Capitol staff and law enforcement."

Representative Espaillat is the first Dominican American to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and his congressional district includes Harlem, East Harlem, West Harlem, Hamilton Heights, Washington Heights, Inwood, Marble Hill and the north-west Bronx. First elected to Congress in 2016, Representative Espaillat is serving his fourth term in Congress. Representative Espaillat currently serves as a member of the influential U.S. House Committee on Appropriations responsible for funding the federal government's vital activities. He is also a member of the House Committee on Education and Labor and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC), where he serves in a leadership role as the Deputy Chair and is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, where he serves as Deputy Whip.
