UoG hosts delegation from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance to strengthen partnership

University of Gloucestershire welcomed a special delegation from Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance(UEF) in Vietnam to mark the extension of their longstanding academic international partnership.

After working successfully in partnership for seven years, the University and UEF have strengthened their strategic relationship by signing a new 15-year agreement that will advance the University's educational programmes in Vietnam, enhance the quality of international student learning experiences and improve graduate employability.

University Vice-Chancellor, Clare Marchant, and members of the leadership team welcomed senior officials from UEF to mark the extension to their collaborative partnership: Dr Kieu Xuan Hung, Chairman, UEF Board of Directors; Dinh Dieu Huong, Member, UEF Board of Directors; Associate Professor Dr Bui Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman, UEF Board of Directors; Dr Do Huu Nguyen Loc (Bruce), Vice-President, UEF Board of Presidents.

The two-day visit included opportunities to further develop the strategic partnership, discussions around potential new degree programmes to enhance the current portfolio, and a tour of the University's new campus in the heart of Gloucester that will deliver the highest quality student and staff experience.

The partnership has already delivered a range of University of Gloucestershire degree programmes at UEF including BA (Hons) English and Linguistics, BA (Hons) Business and Marketing Management, BA (Hons) International Business and BA (Hons) Logistics Management.

The partnership provides UK and international students with opportunities to enhance their professional development and global awareness through collaborative study opportunities, exchange visits, and scholarship opportunities in the UK for UEF's top performing students.

More widely, the University's partnership with UEF contributes to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals - aimed at promoting prosperity while protecting the planet - around education, gender, inequality, social and economic mobility.

Clare Marchant said: "We were extremely proud to welcome our friends from UEF - a significant strategic partner - for an extensive two-day visit to the University to celebrate the extension to our successful academic partnership.

"The visit provided many excellent opportunities to strengthen our collaboration, develop our ambitious plans to further enhance the university experience for students in the UK and Vietnam, and increase graduate opportunities.

"It was a pleasure and privilege to be able to show them around our new campus at the former Debenhams building in Gloucester, which will be a fantastic centre of teaching and learning for UK and international students."
