Multi-Casualty Incident Drill to Be Held on Victorian Square May 14

Sparks, NV - The City of Sparks and Northern Nevada Public Health, in partnership with local hospitals, law enforcement, emergency responders, and members of the Inter-Hospital Coordinating Council will be conducting a one-day full-scale exercise to test local response to capabilities in a multi-casualty incident (MCI). The exercise will also test the MCI Plan, specifically focusing on the self-transport component and surge of the emergency departments.

When: May 14, 2024

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Where: Nugget Event Center, Victorian Ave.

Volunteer "actors" will be portraying community members involved in the incident and are critical to the success of the exercise and the ability to improve response efforts.

"The drill is meant to simulate a real emergency crisis," said City of Sparks Emergency Manager Scott Means. "We want to make sure the community knows that this is a drill and not a true emergency as the scenarios will look authentic."

Road Closures on Victorian Ave. and Victorian Plaza Circle will be in place on May 14 from 2 a.m. through 4 p.m.
