Premier Doug Ford Commemorates Yom HaShoah

TORONTO - Today, Premier Ford issued the following statement to mark Yom HaShoah:

"This evening at sundown, we join the Jewish community in our province and around the world to observe Yom HaShoah, which is also known as Holocaust Remembrance Day.

It's a solemn time to reflect upon one of the darkest periods in history and to commemorate the six million innocent Jews who were imprisoned, tortured and murdered at the hands of the Nazis. It's also an opportunity to commemorate the survivors, whose stories keep the memories of the victims alive.

We all share a responsibility to remember the atrocities of the Holocaust, so that we can learn from the past, educate future generations of Ontarians and renew our promise that this will never happen again.

Sadly, here in Canada and around the world, acts of hate and antisemitism are on the rise. These incidents are a painful reminder of the work we have left to do.

We recognize the invaluable contributions that the Jewish community has made to our province and pledge to stand with them against antisemitism and hate in all its forms.

Let us vow together: Never again."
