NJ PBS Celebrates New Jersey’s Hispanic Heritage with ¡Ahora Si! Jersey’s Latin Beat: A Chat Box & Qué Pasa Special on Wednesday, October 18 at 8 p.m.

OCTOBER 17, 2023 - NEWARK, NJ - NJ PBS announced that a new special celebrating New Jersey's Hispanic heritage and culture, ¡Ahora Si! Jersey's Latin Beat: A Chat Box & Qué Pasa Special, will premiere Wednesday, October 18 at 8 p.m. on NJ PBS (check local listings).

Co-hosts David Cruz (Chat Box) and Carlos Medina (Qué Pasa, NJ) explore local Hispanic life through conversations with influential Latinx legislators, journalists, chefs, artists and athletes. Watch a preview now.

Guests sharing their personal stories and insights include two-time Olympic medalist Laurie Hernandez;

New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz; Well Fargo Senior Community Impact & Sustainability Specialist Tomas Porturas; entrepreneur Monica Martinez Milan; journalist and President/Founder of Futuro Media Maria Hinojosa; private chef/culinary producer Ronaldo Linares and Eva Lucena, Founder/Artistic Director, Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre.

Members of the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre and actor/singer-songwriter Allison Strong also perform in the special.

"Latinos are making such an impact around New Jersey and I was really happy to get the opportunity to showcase the diversity of this community and to compare cultural notes about life in the Garden State with such an array of professionals," said Cruz.

"This special amplifies the accomplishments of the Hispanic community," said Medina. "Viewers will learn the many ways our population plays a very important role in the state's economy, legislature, arts and culture."

Cruz, a journalist with over 30 years' experience, serves as the Senior Political Correspondent for the NJ PBS newsroom, NJ Spotlight News, and hosts the network's weekly public affairs series, Chat Box and Reporters Roundtable.

Medina, President of New Jersey's Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, hosts the monthly series ¿Qué Pasa, NJ? on NJ PBS.
