Be prepared to receive a text message from FEMA at 11:20 a.m. tomorrow.
FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission, will be conducting a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts starting at 2:20 p.m. EST Oct. 4, according to a news release.
The nationwide program will send emergency alert tests to cell phones, wireless devices, radios and TVs.
The message to appear on cell phones will read: "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."
This is a standard test that occurs at least once every three years to help ensure that systems are operational to warn the public about emergencies if and when they happen.
