University manager wins prestigious award for contributions to student experience

He scooped the Emerging Talent title at the Association of University Directors of Estates (AUDE) Awards 2024, which promotes excellence in the strategic planning, management, operation and development of Higher Education estates and facilities.

Upon receiving the award, Jon said:

"I am delighted the work we have put into students' experiences has been recognised by AUDE.

"Since joining Edge Hill, I have been blown away by the enthusiasm from colleagues to drive improvements. The support from departments across the University has been key in delivering our ambitious strategies, a better service and positive experience for our students."

In the past 12 months, Jon's work has helped support the University to win the Global Student Living Index (GSLI) award for Best Moving in Experience and first in the UK for accommodation.

Before entering the higher education sector just 18 months ago, Jon had forged a successful career in retail as a champion of customer experience. In Jon's role at Edge Hill, he is responsible for exploring the way in which important University facilities such as teaching spaces, accommodation and social/study spaces can enhance the student experience.

Head of Customer Services Sarah Knight-Gill said:

"Jon has a genuine understanding of the University priorities and the sector as a whole to be able to interpret these priorities into successful and ambitious strategies which have already produced impressive results."
