Amador COVID-19 Update

Amador County Public Health reports 96 more cases since last Tuesday's update, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 2,748. Of the new cases this week, 82 were unvaccinated. The current cases include 35 children under the age of 18 years, 38 aged 18-49, 15 aged 50-64, 8 age 65 and above; 25 residing in Ione, 20 in Jackson, 8 living in Plymouth/surrounding areas, 16 in Pine Grove, 13 residing in Pioneer, 12 in Sutter Creek/Amador City, and 2 residing in Volcano. 1,514 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in 2021 to date. Investigation has also confirmed 3 additional deaths due to COVID-19. The individuals who passed were 3 males, 1 in his 40s, 1 in his 80s, and 1 in his 90s.

The COVID-19 surge continues to impact hospitals, bed availability and staffing locally and statewide. Six Amador residents are currently hospitalized locally for COVID-19, in addition to 5 from other counties. Two Amador residents are currently hospitalized in other counties after being transferred due to local hospital impact and bed availability shortage. Of those hospitalized, none were fully-vaccinated.

Due to the OptumServe COVID-19 test site Labor Day closure, a one-time make-up test day will be offered this Friday, September 10, 2021 from 7 am to 7 pm. Register for testing at the lhi.care website or by calling 1-888-634-1123. No-cost COVID-19 testing will continue to be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 7 am to 7 pm. Those with appointments are prioritized. Masks are required at the testing site located at the rear of the Health and Human Services building. Everyone exhibiting symptoms, even fully vaccinated individuals, should isolate and be tested.

Vaccination remains the best way to prevent serious illness. On Thursday, September 9th, a COVID-19 vaccine pop-up clinic will be offered at American Legion Hall, located at 12134 Airport Road in Jackson (Martell), from 10 am to 2 pm. On Friday, September 10th, a clinic will be held at the Jackson Rancheria General Store, located at 10690 Dalton Road in Jackson, from 9 am to 12 pm. Next week, on Tuesday September 14th,an additional clinic will be held at the rear entrance of the Health and Human Services building in Sutter Creek from 9 am to 12 pm. The Pfizer vaccine, Moderna vaccine, and Johnson and Johnson (single-dose) vaccine will be offered at each pop-up site. No appointment is necessary. Over 37,250 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to Amador residents to date.
