Carrollton Recognized With Cigna Healthy Workforce Designation

The City of Carrollton has been selected to receive the 2023 Silver Cigna Healthy Workforce DesignationTM. This accolade recognizes organizations for creating a healthy work culture that focuses on the vitality and welfare of their employees.

This is the second year Carrollton has been acknowledged for its efforts in creating a happy and healthy work environment, with the City receiving a Bronze level in 2022. City leadership and staff have worked hard to achieve this elevated status through their continuous efforts to not only maintain but improve the availability of health and benefit offerings.

"The health of Carrollton City employees is one of our top priorities," Carrollton Workforce Services Director Samantha Dean said. "We are thrilled to have received the Cigna Healthy Workforce Designation. We realize the significance of employee welfare in promoting the City's success and the correlation between healthy employees, a happy labor force, and positive business performance. The City is dedicated to promoting a sustainable and healthy work environment that focuses on all aspects of employee health, including physical and emotional well-being."

The City of Carrollton's workplace wellness program includes supportive worksite policies and procedures that reinforce the many dimensions of an employee's overall health. This program provides a comprehensive array of valuable benefits to employees, including Local Plus and Open Access Network medical healthcare plans, a free personal health assessment, a health reimbursement account, flexible spending accounts, prescription drug benefits, free access to an employee health and wellness center, behavioral health services, and no-cost basic life insurance.

With support from leadership, budget resources, and consistent communication, Carrollton benefits have helped employees be healthier, more productive, and more engaged in the office and field, Dean said. Encouraging employees to live their best lives is crucial to accomplishing the organization's goals and objectives.

Research conducted as part of the Evernorth Vitality Index confirms that those with higher vitality experience better mental and physical health along with higher levels of job satisfaction and performance. A workplace well-being program that takes a comprehensive approach to employee health can boost vitality and build a labor force that experiences better overall health and job productivity.

"Higher vitality is linked to a more motivated, connected, and productive workforce," Cigna Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Kari Knight Stevens said. "Employers that foster vitality will fuel a healthier workplace and drive business and economic growth. That's why we're proud to recognize employers for their efforts to prioritize multiple dimensions of wellness, build a culture of health, and boost employee engagement."

The Cigna Healthy Workforce Designation evaluates organizations based on the core components of their well-being program, including leadership and culture, program foundations and execution, policies and accommodations, and additional areas. Organizations recognized with this designation set the standard of excellence for organizational health and vitality.

Cigna Healthcare said it's proud of the City of Carrollton's Silver level designation and their good progress toward a healthy work culture by establishing and growing their health and engagement programs.
