22 - 24 May | International Symposium "Networks, Markets & People"

The Nmp (Networks, Markets & People) Symposium will take place from 22 to 24 May at the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria.

Over 350 articles presented, 4: these are the numbers of a one-of-a-kind study event, which every two years brings together numerous researchers and academics of international standing in this southern city.

Among its objectives - since 2014 -, thanks to the support and commitment of numerous scientific societies, is to promote interdisciplinary debate and accompany the transfer of research results to the territory.

Furthermore, the Università Mediterranea claims a centrality on the Euro-Mediterranean university scene that no longer looks towards a Maghreb of which the South can embody itself in a sort of "North" that has hitherto been more developed, but rather towards unprecedented synergies between the East and West of Europe which are based on research and in-depth analysis.

«The Università Mediterranea, through Nmp, continues to offer its significant contribution to the national scientific debate - notes the Rector, Giuseppe Zimbalatti - and reaffirms its centrality in the dialogue between the Mediterranean countries».

And Francesco Calabrò, scientific director of the Nmp Symposium, underlines how painstaking the preparation work for the "three days" of studies and discussion on the banks of the Strait was. «Urban transformations, the development of internal areas, the valorisation of cultural heritage, the ecological and digital transition will be the heart of our 'three days' of studies - states the Estimation teacher of the Diceam Department (Civil Engineering, Energy , environment and materials) of the Università degli Studi Mediterranea di Reggio Calabria.

The awarding of two prizes will be dedicated to the promotion of new generations: the "Edoardo Mollica" intended for young researchers and the "Valeria Morabito", recognition for young people still in training. The opening ceremony, with the tribute to Roberto Camagni brought by the international panel of keynote speakers, will trace the horizons of research in these sectors".

In the intense sequence of work sessions, there were three key moments.

Meanwhile, the National Cultural Tourism Table promoted by Icomos Italy and Icomos International, between the promotion of peripheral tourist areas and the tourist overcrowding of the most visited places.

A second "zenith" will concern the Council of Europe's Cultural Route project on the Byzantine cultural landscape in the internal areas of the Mediterranean.

And there will be a scientific approach to the effects generated by the construction of the Bridge over the Strait: a focus promoted by Diceam on the repercussions of the connection on the real estate market of Messina, Villa San Giovanni and Reggio Calabria.
