Baltic prime ministers will discuss assisting Ukraine and European security in Tallinn on Friday

Stenbock House, 30 January, 2023 - An informal meeting of the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian prime ministers will take place in Tallinn on 3 February within the scope of the Baltic Council of Ministers. The meeting will be followed by a joint press conference at the Fotografiska Museum.

Estonia holds the chairmanship of the Baltic Cooperation in 2023. During the first meeting of the year, Kaja Kallas, Krišjānis Kariņš and Ingrida Šimonytė will focus on long-term assistance to Ukraine, preparations for the NATO Vilnius Summit in July this year and energy security. They will discuss joint infrastructure projects, including the current status of the construction of Rail Baltic and other areas of cooperation in the European Union.

Estonia's three priorities during its chairmanship are support for Ukraine, regional security and defence, energy security and security of supply. Estonia will host a number of important meetings this year, including at ministerial and parliamentary level, to move Baltic cooperation forward . The prime ministers will meet informally again in summer and will summarise the results of the presidency at an official meeting at the end of the year. A meeting of heads of state is also planned for the end of the year.
