Preparations for the presidential elections

On July 9, early presidential elections will take place in Uzbekistan.

At a press conference held in the 6th Namangan constituency for the presidential elections, detailed information was given on the preparations for this important social and political event.

The Chairman of the 6th Namangan District Election Commission Sobitkhon Turgunov noted that 832 polling stations had been created in Namangan region, 659 of them organized in secondary schools. The plots are located in colleges, schools, lyceums, technical schools, buildings of citizens' assemblies of mahallas, and cultural and sports centers.

More than 1.5 million people have the right to vote in the region. When selecting members of precinct election commissions, special attention was paid to candidates' education, life experience, and knowledge of languages. Thus, 70 percent of the 7480 members of 832 polling stations have higher education: pedagogical, legal, economic, and medical. More than half of the Commission members are women.
