Latest Update: Nov. 23, 2022

Northbound Lane Closures to Expand to Lookout Drive Next Week
As work continues on the West Prairie Creek Rehabilitation Project, northbound lane closures that have been in effect between Campbell Road and Fall Creek Drive will expand northward to Lookout Drive next week. Once the new closure is in place, no northbound traffic will be allowed on West Prairie Creek between Campbell and Lookout.

The northbound lane closures will be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week so utility work can take place. This work is expected to last several months. During this time, the pedestrian bridge that connects West Prairie Creek Drive to Prairie Creek Elementary School will remain open.

Work Still on Schedule Despite Recent Rains, No Work Nov. 24-25
Following months of little to no precipitation, Richardson has had several days of heavy rains in the last month. Despite this, work on the West Prairie Creek Project is still on schedule. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, no work will take place Nov. 24-25.

Sewer Line Rehabilitation, Water and Drainage System Upgrades
Sewer lines along West Prairie Creek Drive are being rehabilitated using cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) technology. This allows crews to work on pipes without having to dig trenches. The process includes installing a flexible liner that has been saturated with epoxy resin inside the existing damaged pipe. It is then heat cured to create a smooth, seamless, all new PVC pipe, repairing all of the compromised areas without the need for excavation. Utility hole replacements between Campbell and Collins are nearly completed. Waterline installation have also begun as part of the utility work between Campbell and Fall Creek. The drainage system will be upgraded as part of this project as well.

Prairie Creek Elementary School, Pedestrian Bridge
Prairie Creek Elementary School is located on East Prairie Creek adjacent to the project. The bridge spanning the creek inside Prairie Creek Park should be kept open during the upcoming work. If this changes, the City will put out the information through the West Prairie Creek e-mail list (sign up here) so parents can make necessary arrangements.
