DLA Aviation at Warner Robins team goes the distance for excellence

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. -

In the midst of everyday excellence, the Storage and Distribution and Material Management teams within Defense Logistics Agency at Warner Robins still manage to go above and beyond to support mission partners, playing a crucial role in addressing time-sensitive needs for the warfighter.

Storage and Distribution Chief Sorot Boonkian said his team recently aided customers in a task not typical of their day-to-day duties.

Boeing informed the Warner Robins' teams that the estimated delivery dates for aircraft stringers required for F-15C wing repairs would not meet their deadline.

"Our customers asked us to visit two locations to retrieve a part that was needed to meet their repair time and return aircraft to their home station," he said.

In response, Charles Irvin, inventory section supervisor; Dave Ferguson, retail accountable officer within S&D; and Robert Marshall, customer support specialist within Material Management, coordinated with Boeing asset managers to pick up the materials directly from their Atlanta warehouse. This action reduced the lead time by four days, enabling the resumption of work on seven F-15C wings.

Boonkian said the biggest challenge of the task was coordinating with key players to ensure the parts were packed and ready to go when the teams arrived at their respective locations.

Additionally, Boonkian and Jason Lamb, material expediter supervisor, responded to a request to retrieve a C-130 cargo door bracket from Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The part was needed to meet a functional check flight schedule for a C-130. Their prompt retrieval of the part was critical to maintaining the flight schedule.

These efforts by the DLA Aviation Warner Robins teams highlight their ability to meet urgent and unexpected requirements in support of military operations.
