Adams Applauds Accreditation for Bennett College

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12), the founder and co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional HBCU Caucus, as well as a professor for four decades at Bennett College, released a statement applauding the accreditation of Bennett College. The Department of Education determined in a July 23 letter that it will approve the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools ('TRACS') as Bennett's institutional accrediting agency, effective as of March 25, 2021.

'I am proud that the Department of Education has recognized the accreditation of Bennett College, one of only two HBCUs for women in the United States,' said Congresswoman Adams, founder and co-chair of the HBCU Caucus. 'Bennett Belles are hard-working, civically engaged students. As someone with first-hand knowledge of the benefits of a Bennett education, I've worked in Congress to make sure Bennett and other HBCUs have the legislative and financial support they need to succeed. This decision enables Bennett to continue to educate generations of young women and continue to focus on the intellectual, spiritual, and cultural growth of women of color.'
