The City of Long Beach is inviting members of the public to participate in the City's fiscal year 2024 budget development process by sharing their service priorities at one of the upcoming community budget meetings or by completing the Long Beach Budget Priority Survey. The community budget meetings will be held in person at multiple locations throughout the city, and one meeting will be in a virtual format.

"Public input is extremely valuable to ensure our City budget is reflective of the diverse needs of our community," said Mayor Rex Richardson. "I encourage residents to share their service priorities by attending a community meeting, completing the online survey, or both."

This year's community budget meetings will be held on the following days:

  • Thursday, Jan. 19, 6 to 7:30 p.m. - Stephens Middle School (1830 W Columbia St.), Gymnasium (4000 Building)

  • Monday, Jan. 23, 6:30 to 8 p.m. - El Dorado Park West (2800 N Studebaker Rd.), Teen Center

  • Wednesday, Jan. 25, 6 to 7:30 p.m. - Billie Jean King Main Library (200 W Broadway), Meeting Room A

  • Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. - Michelle Obama Library (5870 Atlantic Ave.), Community Room

  • Monday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. - Zoom Webinar

Advanced registration for the virtual meeting is required in order to receive the link to the Zoom meeting. Interpretation services will be available for all meetings.

More information about the City's fiscal year 2024 budget development process and registration for the virtual meeting is available at longbeach.gov/fy24.

In addition to the meetings, community members may also submit their budget service priorities by completing the Long Beach Budget Priority Survey, available online starting Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023 through Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2023. Surveys will be available in English, Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog. Those without computer access may visit an open LBPL location to take the survey at one of the available public computer labs.

Public input is an important and valued part of the City's budget preparation process. The community budget meetings and online survey play an integral part in helping the City understand what community members believe the City's budget priorities should be.  Feedback provided at the community meetings and through the survey will be shared with the Long Beach City Council prior to the development of the Proposed FY 24 Budget.
