Abra Registered the Highest Growth in the Value of Production in Agriculture and Fisheries at 6.4 percent in 2021 (At Constant 2018 Prices)

Among the provinces in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the value of production in agriculture and fisheries at constant 2018 prices in Abra had the highest annual increase at 6.4 percent. Kalinga and Benguet recorded increments of 2.3 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, reductions were registered in Ifugao and Apayao which recorded a two-digit drop of -17.5 percent and -12.5 percent, respectively. Value of production in Mt. Province also dropped by -0.4 percent. (Figure 1)

The biggest contributor in the region's value of production in agriculture and fisheries at constant 2018 prices was Benguet at 41.9 percent in 2021. Likewise, Benguet was the major producer of crops in the region with a share of 47.0 percent. For livestock, Abra and Ifugao topped in terms of value of production with respective shares of 21.9 percent and 21.7 percent. Ifugao had the highest share in the value of production for poultry and fisheries of 39.9 percent and 63.6 percent, respectively.

At current prices, the value of production in agriculture and fisheries in Benguet, which amounted to PhP 12.31 billion, was the highest among the provinces in CAR. This was distantly followed by Kalinga and Ifugao at PhP 4.48 billion and PhP 4.28 billion, respectively. The value of production at current prices of other provinces were as follows: Abra, PhP 3.70 billion; Apayao, PhP 3.17 billion; and Mt. Province, PhP 2.53 billion.

The Provincial Value of Production in Agriculture and Fisheries serves as a primary input in the estimation of the Provincial Product Accounts.
