Congressman Tony Gonzales Announces Committee Assignments for 118th Congress

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23) announced Tuesday that he has been assigned to the House Appropriations and Homeland Security Committees for the 118th Congress.

On the House Appropriations Committee, he has been assigned to the:

  • Subcommittee on Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies
  • Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies
  • Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies

"I am honored to serve on the Appropriations Committee for another term in Congress," said Congressman Gonzales. "My committee assignment will allow me to continue delivering critical funding opportunities for our district and ensure our communities' needs are prioritized. I am looking forward to leveraging my subcommittee assignments to advocate for our district's veterans, protect military installations, improve Texas' infrastructure, equip our law enforcement to secure our border, and enact programs to stop school violence."

"I am excited to work with Congressman Gonzales for another term on the House Appropriations Committee," said Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Kay Granger. "Congressman Gonzales has been a champion for conservative values and Texas priorities, and we will continue to work together to deliver real results for the people of Texas."

On the House Homeland Security Committee, he has been assigned to the:

  • Subcommittee on Border Security and Enforcement
  • Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence

"As the Congressman representing the largest border district, I am excited to be appointed to the House Homeland Security Committee which directly oversees border security operations at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)," said Congressman Gonzales. "With over 800 miles of the southern border, I know firsthand the challenges our Border Patrol agents, law enforcement officers, local officials, and communities along the border deal with every single day. I look forward to using this committee assignment to secure our southern border and create a safer America."

"Representing the largest stretch of the U.S. Mexico border, Rep. Gonzales knows firsthand the impact the Biden administration's reckless border security policies are having on Americans and businesses in our border communities," said Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green. "He has been an outspoken, consistent and effective communicator on the border crisis serving as a key advocate for our brave law enforcement officers on the frontline of this crisis. Rep. Gonzales brings a truly unique perspective and skill set essential for his subcommittees to carry out their homeland security mission. I am proud to serve with him on the Homeland Security Committee this Congress."
